Sous Chef – Hub Box Cornwall
Full-Time | Based at one of our Cornish sites – or across them all
We’re on the hunt for a Sous Chef to help lead our kitchen operations across Cornwall. Whether you're plating up burgers in St Ives, keeping things slick in Truro, or steering the ship in Falmouth and Pentewan, you’ll be right at the heart of a kitchen team that thrives on energy, quality produce, and delivering the kind of hospitality we’re proud of.
What the role involves:
- Supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen — from prep to service, and everything in between
- Taking the lead in the Head Chef’s absence and setting the tone for smooth, high-energy service
- Managing and motivating the team — helping to train, develop, and support junior chefs
- Maintaining high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation under pressure
- Overseeing kitchen cleanliness, stock control, and food safety compliance
- Working flexibly across multiple sites depending on business needs (St Austell, Truro, Falmouth & St Ives)
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef — or a strong Chef de Partie ready to step up
- Leadership skills with a calm, can-do approach that keeps the team motivated during busy service
- A genuine passion for fresh, honest food and the ability to deliver it to spec, every time
- Confidence on all sections, particularly grill and pass
- A team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and leads by example
- Flexibility to travel between sites when needed

About Hub Box
Our flagship Hub started life as a bar & restaurant 20 years ago on the waterfront in the art haven, food mecca & fishing town of St Ives in Cornwall.
Next came a reconditioned shipping container in the centre of Truro, then a popup restaurant in Exeter. Since then we have regenerated & innovated our way around the South West & beyond, creating award-winning burgers & restaurants along the way.
